The Best of Intima - So Far So Near

This was shot in mid-December and can be found in the January issue of the US, Italy and France publications. Let me know what you think!

New York, I Love You

I have been patiently waiting to see this movie, until recently I mentioned it to a friend who informed me that it has already been in (and out) of the theatre...quite some time ago, apparently. October 16, 2009 was it's opening night - wow, time really does fly - I feel like I JUST saw the trailer. Anyways, if you aren't familiar with the story, it is a collective work of eleven short films. The stories don't relate but all have one thing in common, love. There are countless name worthy actors in it and even though it isn't one continous story, it could be a good movie to watch, especially since Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Watch the trailer here . And New York, I really do love you.

Is Gray becoming the new Blonde?

Obviously with age, comes the unwanted gray strands that can't be avoided, but the always trendy Kate Moss has opted for streaks of gray rather than her usual blonde touch-ups. Lagerfeld sent models down the Spring 2010 Couture runway with streaks of gray in their Marie Antoineete-esque wigs, while other designers - Gareth Pugh and Giles Beacon - have also had models strutting their stuff down the runway with gray hair.

Will this choice of color catch on and go mainstream?

Look of the Week: Date Night

I'm obsessed with this - it's fun and flirty and so versatile. I would recommend piling on different colored and textured bracelets or a big cocktail ring and top it off with a blazer or, depending on the occasion, a leather bomber. The booties are a great option as they add an edge to the rather 'sweet' dress, but if booties aren't your style, pair with a fun pair of peep-toes.

A little of this, a little of that

(Photo: WireImage)
I'm usually not the biggest Fergie fan, but she looks beautiful in this backless Armani Prive gown at the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes. Maybe her new found beauty has something to do with that gorgeous husband of hers.

I have one word for these two: AMAZINGGG!

Funniest cast ever - I can't wait for the arrival of the sequel.

The legacy lives on - Michael Jackson will be awarded a lifetime acheivement Grammy and will be honored with a 3-D Tribute at the show on Jan. 31.

Givenchy Spring 2010 Couture Show

Drenched with glitter, sequins and rave-like colors, these images (below) from Givenchy's show remind me of Will Ferrell and Jon Heder in "Blades of Glory". I do love the Studio 54 throwback but I much prefer the rest of the collection - the feathers, ruffles, black and neutral colors and I LOVE the over-the-knee boots, so hot.

Are Scrunchies Coming Back?

God, I really hope not.
What do you think?

My Golden Globe re-cap

I really wasn't that impressed with the Golden Globe's this year - fashion wise that is. There were far more mediocre looks than there were stunning ones, but these three were my favorites of the night. Maggie looks amazing in RM Roland Mouret, Penelope does it perfect in Armani and Emily stuns in Dolce & Gabbana.
Robert Downey Jr. (and those eyes) looks fantastic - love the crystal buttons and no tie

Although Mariah's Herve Leger dress is beautiful, she should have left this one on the hanger and gone for something a bit more age appropriate and not quite so fitted or low cut for that matter. A flowy option would have suited her curvy bod more so than this does, but I do love those shoulders. No comment on Mariah's little puppy, errr, husband, that follows her around.

Judging a book by it's cover

It was one of those days where the things that need to be done, get postponed, and the things a bit lower on your to-do list have suddenly been checked off.  So far, today has been a day of complete procrastination, which is usually not in my vocabulary but for some reason felt ok today. Wandering around the city (when I should be doing other, more productive things) with my new playlist determining the pace at which I walk, I can't help but think about the future, not only for myself, but all of those busily walking around me. When someone catches my eye, I wander what their life is like - where do they work, do they like it, what they do for fun, are they single, married, divorced, why they chose to wear that outfit, the questions are endless and I usually try to answer them myself and piece together this person's life, when really I have no idea who they are and although I am fairly good at figuring people out, I probably have it all wrong. I grew up in a family constantly telling me not to 'judge a book by its cover, it's what's underneath that counts', but really, how can you not make assumptions based on someone's appearance? I agree that there is much more to be discovered under the clothes, but upon the first impression, how you express yourself visually really does have an affect on people, so why not make it 100% who you are.  So in short, today's procrastination - people watching and all — has just reminded me that even though the fashion industry is judgmental, I love it and still know that even though this is what I do, it does go deeper than the amazing Chanel bag and Louboutin's I'm dying to add to my closet.

Look of the Week: Weekend Wear

This is the perfect weekend outfit; it oozes comfort and style, which is exactly what you should be looking for in every piece you purchase. I don't say this often, but accessories are not necessary.

The Diving Bell and The Butterfly

If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor and grab it from your local bookstore. If you have read it, I suggest reading it again - like a great movie, it's better the second time around. The Diving Bell and The Butterfly is a memoir documenting Jean-Dominique Bauby, the editor of French Elle (1995), after he suffered a massive stroke that left him a victim of "locked-in syndrome". Bauby can only communicate with a system that he says is "simple enough". It goes something like this:
"You read off the alphabet (ESA version, not ABC) until, with a blink of my eye, I stop you at the letter to be noted. The maneuver is repeated for the letters that follow, so that fairly soon you have a whole word, and then fragments of more or less intelligible sentences."
And in doing just that he composed this entire memoir. The fact that this man, only 43 years old and with two young children, can only communicate by blinking his left eye and not losing hope in the world is incredibly inspiring. The range of emotions that run through you as you quickly read the pages are constantly changing with Bauby's own. He always seems to bring a smile back to the surface and to remind you that he was once a stylish man.
"Having turned down the hideous jogging suit provided by the hospital, I am now attired as I was in my student days. Like the bath, my old clothes could easily bring back poignant, painful memories. But I see the clothing as a symbol of continuing life. And proof that I still want to be myself. If I must drool, I may as well drool on cashmere."
So if this doesn't make you want to immediately go buy this book, I'm not sure what will - maybe Twilight would suite you better.

Grab a cosmo, put on your Prada pumps

..and get ready for Sex and the City 2! The trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot but knowing these gals, there will be plenty of stunning wardrobes, date nights and far far away vacations. The four of them look even more amazing than they did in the first movie, so let's hope the sequel can hold it's own. I think it will do just fine, especially since the opening song is Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind". I mean, I don't know about you, but when I'm walking the streets of NYC and I hear Alicia Keys belting out the chorus "These streets will make you feel brand new, big lights will inspire you, hear it for New York, New York, New York", all I can do is smile and be so thankful that I can live in a city that is so inspiring.
