Judging a book by it's cover
It was one of those days where the things that need to be done, get postponed, and the things a bit lower on your to-do list have suddenly been checked off. So far, today has been a day of complete procrastination, which is usually not in my vocabulary but for some reason felt ok today. Wandering around the city (when I should be doing other, more productive things) with my new playlist determining the pace at which I walk, I can't help but think about the future, not only for myself, but all of those busily walking around me. When someone catches my eye, I wander what their life is like - where do they work, do they like it, what they do for fun, are they single, married, divorced, why they chose to wear that outfit, the questions are endless and I usually try to answer them myself and piece together this person's life, when really I have no idea who they are and although I am fairly good at figuring people out, I probably have it all wrong. I grew up in a family constantly telling me not to 'judge a book by its cover, it's what's underneath that counts', but really, how can you not make assumptions based on someone's appearance? I agree that there is much more to be discovered under the clothes, but upon the first impression, how you express yourself visually really does have an affect on people, so why not make it 100% who you are. So in short, today's procrastination - people watching and all — has just reminded me that even though the fashion industry is judgmental, I love it and still know that even though this is what I do, it does go deeper than the amazing Chanel bag and Louboutin's I'm dying to add to my closet.
